Last month, one of our prospective clients asked, "Why do company profile video prices vary so much? Some quote IDR 5 million, and others go past IDR 50 million. What makes the difference?"

It’s a really common question. We know such a wide price range can be confusing. But behind those numbers, there are a lot of factors at play. It’s not just one vendor charging more than another, it’s a difference in the 'product' being offered.

Let’s break it down piece by piece, so you can look at quotes more critically and pick the one that fits your business best.

How Long Is the Shoot?

Shooting time is one of the main drivers of company profile video production cost. You might think, "The video is only 2-5 minutes long, so the shoot must be quick, right?"

Not always. For a standard company profile video, we usually need 1 to 2 full days on location. That covers shots from many angles, interviews with several people (for example the CEO, managers, or key employees), and supporting visuals (b-roll) relevant to how your business operates. If the concept is more complex, needs many locations, or the interviewees have tight schedules, the shoot can run longer.

Imagine you only have one day to shoot at three different locations in Semarang, say from the city center around Kota Lama to an industrial area outside town. Just moving the equipment and crew takes time. That’s why a package with a longer shooting schedule will naturally cost more.

Who’s Involved in the Production?

The size of the crew directly affects efficiency and the quality of the final result. More affordable company profile packages are often handled by a small team, sometimes just one person doubling as videographer and editor. They rely on more minimal equipment.

Meanwhile, more professional video productions usually involve a fuller team. There’s a Director of Photography (DOP) focused on visual quality, a lighting technician who sets up the lighting so the image looks cinematic, a sound recordist to make sure the audio is clean, and crew assistants. A solid team like this makes sure every part of the production runs smoothly and the result is as good as it can be. The more people involved, the higher the operating costs, including crew fees.

Who’s the Star of Your Video?

There are two kinds of people you can feature in a company profile video: your own employees, or professional talent.

Using employees as interviewees or on-screen cast is of course more cost-effective. You don’t need extra budget for their fees. But sometimes they have limited time, or they aren’t comfortable in front of the camera. Professional talent, on the other hand, has the experience and skill to come across convincingly on camera, making the video feel more 'alive' and engaging. Naturally, hiring professional talent adds another line to your video production budget.

How Deep Is Your Video Concept?

The concept of a company profile video is the backbone of the story. Cheaper packages might only offer a simple concept: interviews with leaders or employees, intercut with footage of daily operations (b-roll), and closed with a logo and contact information. That works for a basic introduction to the company.

But if you want a video that stands out, with a strong narrative, cinematic visuals, and a compelling storyline, the cost goes up. A concept like that needs more thorough pre-production: detailed scriptwriting, a storyboard to visualize every scene, and in-depth research into your company’s brand story. This pre-production process is often what takes the most time, and it’s the 'invisible work' that determines the final quality.

For example, a company profile video for an F&B startup in Semarang that wants to highlight the artisanal process behind its ingredients will be very different from a video for a large manufacturing company focused on production scale and technology.

What Extra Features Do You Want?

Beyond the basics, there are plenty of add-ons that can enrich your company profile video, but they also add to the production cost. Some of them:

  • Drone Flights: Drone footage gives a wide, dramatic perspective, great for showing a factory site, a plantation, or a large property.
  • Animation & Motion Graphics: Adding moving graphics, infographics, or a logo animation can make the video more dynamic and informative, especially for explaining data or complex processes.
  • Professional Voice-Over: Using a narrator with a trained, pleasant voice raises the production value of the video.
  • Licensed Music: The right background music can set the mood of the video. But popular music often comes with hefty licensing fees.
  • Subtitles: Important if your target audience is multilingual or if the video will often be watched without sound.

All of these extras take time and specific expertise, so they add to the total production cost.

Revision Limits and Final Video Length

Every production package usually has a limit on the number of revisions included. More affordable packages might only allow 1-2 rounds of minor revisions (for example fixing typos or small changes). If you want more significant changes after the initial approval, there’s usually an extra charge. That’s because every major revision can mean redoing part of the editing process.

The length of the final video matters too. Editing a 1-2 minute video is a different level of difficulty from editing a 5-7 minute one. A longer video needs more footage, more time to pick the best shots, and more work on the flow so it stays engaging from start to finish.

Company Profile Video Price Ranges in Semarang

Based on our experience at Labstory, here’s a rough estimate of reasonable price ranges for company profile video production in Semarang:

  • Basic Package (IDR 5 – 10 million): Suited to UMKM (micro, small and medium businesses) or startups just getting going. It usually covers a 1-day shoot, a small crew (1-2 people), a simple concept (interviews & basic b-roll), basic editing, and a final video of 1-2 minutes. Limited revisions.
  • Mid-Range Package (IDR 15 – 30 million): Ideal for companies that want a higher-quality video. It includes a 1-2 day shoot, a fuller crew, a more developed concept (a basic script/storyboard), more varied b-roll, more detailed editing, and a video length of 2-5 minutes. It may already include simple add-ons like drone footage or licensed music.
  • Premium Package (IDR 35 million and up): For large companies, or those that prioritize cinematic quality and a strong narrative. It involves a full production team, in-depth pre-production (script, detailed storyboard), multi-location shoots, professional equipment (high-end cameras, cinematic lighting, advanced drones), complex editing, motion graphics, a professional voice-over, and a video length of 5-7 minutes. More flexible revisions.

Remember, these are estimates. Your company’s specific needs will determine which offer fits best.

Understand the Value Behind the Numbers

When comparing quotes, don’t fixate on the final figure. Look at the details of what’s covered. A quote of IDR 8 million and one of IDR 25 million doesn’t mean one vendor is overcharging; it means the scope of work and the production quality are fundamentally different.

Keep in mind that pre-production (concept, script, storyboard) and editing are the parts that take the most time, and precisely because of that they’re the parts most often invisible on a quote. The gap between IDR 8 million and IDR 25 million is almost never about one greedy vendor; it’s about how much invisible work you’re paying for. If you’re unsure how to read a quote, ask the vendor to break it down by component, and read our guide to choosing a video vendor in Semarang before you decide.

Absolutely! We’re very open to ideas and concepts from clients. Our team will talk with you to understand your vision, then help develop it into a production-ready script and storyboard. The cost will be adjusted to the complexity of the concept you bring.
